Erasmus plus is designed to support participating countries in effectively exploiting the potential of social capital and promoting lifelong learning. Erasmus+ is also a response to the needs of contemporary Europe and the challenges it faces.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
The Erasmus+ programme shall contribute to:
- the achievement of the Europe 2020 objectives, including its headline target in the field of education;
- the achievement of the objectives of the strategic framework for European cooperation in education and training ('ET 2020'), including relevant benchmarks;
- the sustainable development of partner countries in the field of higher education;
- achieving the overall objectives of the EU Youth Strategy (Framework for European Cooperation in the Youth Field);
- the development of the European dimension in sport, in particular universal sport, in line with the EU Work Plan for Sport;
- the promotion of European values in accordance with Article 2 of the Treaty on European Union.
The programme covers the following sectors:

Erasmus participating countries:
- the 28 Member States of the European Union,
- other, non-EU members: North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey, Serbia
Higher education institutions are entitled to participate in the Erasmus University Charter, granted by the European Commission. This is a type of certificate that allows the university to apply for funds for specific activities provided for in the program.
Erasmus plus enables students to:
- implementation of part of the studies in a foreign university and an international environment,
- internship in a foreign company,
- improving language skills,
- getting to know the education system and teaching methods in another country,
- making new friends,
- getting to know other cultures,
- improving decision-making and problem-solving skills;
School employees:
- exchange of experience with foreign partners and extension of cooperation,
- improving their competencies,
- getting to know the education systems in other countries,
- getting to know other cultures;
Schools:
- developing international cooperation,
- internationalization of education,
- expanding the didactic offer and increasing its innovative character.
